Cmt Tactical Uhpr Mod 3 Hdx Quad Rail Review
RHF (Railed Handguard, Forward Controls) is based on the superb CMT UHPR Mod2, with full length 1913 rails at 12 o'clock, and MLOK at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock.
Since its introduction in 2018, RHF has progressively get more robust and durable with the deletion on lightening cuts and slots. It's gained some weight in the latest 2020 version, but nosotros value strength durability far more than lite weight. Information technology directly contradicts the light weight fad which, like all fads, are rarely about improving anything for the end user.
RHF is machined from 6000 series extruded aluminum, its barrel nut is machined from 7075 aluminum, both are Type 3 anodized, while the rail mounting hardware is machined from 17-4 PH (patent pending). RHF also incorporates anti-rotation tabs.
RHF'south inside diameter is 1.315" and uniform with most low profile gas blocks. Barrel nut diameter is 1.378", barrel nut wrench is included.
RHF incorporates design input from Frontwards Controls, the changes include:
i. Omission of QD swivel attachment points. Location of the front end sling attachment is left to individual users.
2. Barrel cooling vents changed to the archetype circular shape. I might say we're paying homage to Knight's Armament's RAS and RIS where meaningful modular revolution began.
3. Simplification of the already understated aesthetics of the CMT UHPR Mod two handguard.
Available in fifteen", 13.seven", 12.8", xi.5", ix.5", and 6.7".
Weight of each length as follows (total weight, including mounting bracket and bolts):
vi.seven", seven.5oz
nine.v", .9.02oz
11.5", nine.25oz
12.8", 10.95oz
13.7", 11.51oz
15", 12.35 oz
Butt nut torque: milspec twoscore-60ft/lbs
Track clamp screws torque: 45 inc/lbs.
A single use (we've successfully used information technology one-half a dozen times without ill effects) barrel nut wrench is included.
Fabricated in U.s.a..
Annotation:
SIG M400 upper requires slight modification to fit RHF.
RHF is incompatible with BCM's Mk2 upper receivers without modification to the RHF's anti-rotation tabs, or to the upper receiver itself.
The scoffed up area is where RHF'due south anti-rotation tabs need to flank.
NOTE:URF requires the vertical portion of the upper, below the 1913 track, to be TDP width (0.617 +0.000 / 0.010) . The anti-rotation tabs of RHF within diameter is 0.6325. Some upper receivers take a wider section below the 0.617 width, at 0.6575, RHF will need the anti-rotation tabs relieved before they tin go over the wider section of the upper receiver. Alternatively, the upper receiver's wider expanse tin be relived for the RHF's anti-rotation tabs to go over.
CMT, which produces RHF for us, states:
The machined step under the picture show rail where information technology blends with the forged surface of the upper does vary on some forged uppers and can crusade a slight interference that tin be usually exist overcome by lightly pressing/tapping the rail towards the upper itself when installing.
Elevation notch customer service. Smashing looking rails.
Dear this rail. It was merely the length I needed for my 14.5 build, seems decently strong and rigid, piece of cake install and has the old school KAC/DD aesthetic I prefer.. But the best part is customer service. I was having an issue with the rail possibly being out of spec. Roger called me personally and sent out a new one! You can't beat that kind of CS. Plus I don't know how they exercise information technology but they send almost instantly. It's really quite insane. Anyway, needless to say I'g now a huge fan of Forrard Controls!

Oh yeah, information technology's all coming together
I got this rail on a build from Weapon Outfitters.... it's an awesome rails! I got the 13.vii flavor paired with a thirteen.7 barrel and the fit is spot on. I've been a FCD fan for awhile and this will be my get to runway from now on.... light weight, strong, looks sexy as hell with a Vltor MUR

Everything you demand and zip you don't
Equally the title states it's everting you need in a handguard and nothing you don't. The rail has a very solid lock up, great finish, and overall a very clean appearance. Absolutely I bought this as a place keeper for another runway but after having my hands on this it has earned it place to remain on the rifle for the foreseeable future. Excellent customer service.
